Withdrawals and disqualifications

Handle day-of incidents — injuries, no-shows, rule violations — without touching the registration or any money. WD and DQ follow the CrossFit Games rulebook semantics your athletes already know.

WD vs DQ — pick by intent

  • Withdraw (WD) — the team can no longer compete (injury, emergency). They KEEP every rank and point already earned, and simply stop scoring: workouts they miss earn no penalty rank. They appear below the ranked teams with a WD badge, ordered by the points they retained. This is the CF Games rule: athletes removed from competition retain the points earned to that point.
  • Disqualify (DQ) — the team broke the rules. Their scores leave the leaderboard entirely: every other team moves up one place in each workout the DQ'd team had scored, and points are recomputed accordingly. They appear at the very bottom with a DQ badge; their raw scores stay visible on record.

How to apply and undo

  1. Open the team's registration detail page from the dashboard.
  2. In the "Ranking status" panel, click "Withdraw from ranking" or "Disqualify" and confirm. Leaderboards recompute immediately, including the public one.
  3. Both statuses are reversible: "Reinstate" puts the team back as an active competitor with their scores counting again, exactly as before.

What it does NOT do

  • No refund is triggered and the registration stays confirmed — the team paid and may still attend as spectators or collect their athlete pack. If money must move, that's a cancellation instead.
  • No email is sent to the team. Statuses are an organizer decision communicated on-site; tell the team directly.
  • Heats are not automatically regenerated. If the withdrawn team held a lane, free it from the schedule page when convenient.
